Because this component works simultaneously with the S-SMP chip, they reside on the same Wikipedia page.  As for the plant where it was created, I am making the same inference  as the S-SMP chip where the only plant I could find that Sony uses to make microchips; I could not find anything saying that there was a different plant used in the late 1980's and early 1990's.  As for the manufacturing date, I assume it's 1992 because that is when most of the date codes on other parts are listed.</text>
